Tour guides have completely different perspectives on the world – participants are pulled between the two.

Tour Guide 1: The photographer – stops to stare at people, will even follow people through the streets, causing some of the group great embarrassment. The photographer also likes to ask everyone she comes across what they do, why they do it and what they think about things. 

Tour Guide 2: The sculptor  -  on the whole, very shy, a person fascinated by objects and how they got to be what they are. She likes to  analyse buildings, their motifs and graphics, she likes to imagine what the interior space of a building is used for and how this came about… walking past  the Commonwealth building, she’ll stop and analyse the decor in the Commonwealth restaurant as viewed from the street…

So the students became artists in residence in the black studies dept, the science dept, the music dept, the psychology dept, the systems analysis dept etc. they spent the term learning about and doing projects with that dept. Periodically the whole class would go on a tour of all of the depts. and see what everyone was up to. A small brochure, whose spreads were gathered in the course of one’s journey through the different positions, contains the collected insights. He or she explains the content in no more than 20 seconds to the group. Then the group continues the online search. “Found!”. ARTSCHOOL/UK – John Reardon and Johannes Maier – will bring 
together students from the fields of science, art, architecture 
and design for a weekend event at the Telfer Gallery in Glasgow 
on October 26th/27th/28th, 2012. Working with a dedicated group 
of students and invited contributors, the weekend event will be 
structured around a large – slightly anomalous – cactus. 
During this time our focus will be on the production of collective 
moments of intensity and pleasure.
